The Municipality of Kršan Tourist Board in cooperation with Equinox Vision, a Croatian start-up company that develops the Equinox XR platform for easy publication of augmented reality (AR) content, allows visitors to Plomin to immerse themselves in the world of history, legends and local stories with the help of a virtual guide.

The cultural heritage of Plomin brought to life through augmented reality (AR)

The virtual character of Baroness Tonneti guides visitors through Plomin to bring the deserted streets and ruins back to life and the rich cultural heritage of Plomin closer to its visitors. The stories told during the virtual tour deftly and fluently connect important historical events with the way of life and customs of that time. Content is available in Croatian with parts being in the Cakavian dialect, typical for Labin and Plomin, and the Italian Veneto dialect which was once spoken here. Anyone with a smartphone from the list of supported devices can use the free Equinox XR app at 10 locations in Plomin to scan QR codes and call Baroness Tonetti, a virtual guide in augmented reality.

Baroness Tonetti's family is very important for the history of Plomin. Not only were they landowners, sailors, owners of ships and sailing ships in Plomin’s port and captains of long voyages, but they also numbered several mayors in the family too. The baroness's virtual story was shaped and voiced by prof. Vedrana Juričić, both a cultural heritage interpreter and tourist guide.

To participate in the tour, you just have to install the application from either the Google or Apple stores (link for Android: http://bit.ly/equinoxforandroid, link for iPhone: http://bit.ly/equinoxforiOS).
